Empower Individuals, Support Families & Build Community
From Playdates to Powerful Community
It all started in 2010 with a simple dream: a supportive space for parents and their young ones. We were a group of parents meeting in parks, homes, and friendly businesses. This shared desire for connection blossomed into PLAY!, a program in partnership with the local library that's still going strong today.
The power of community became our driving force. We built a Facebook group, a virtual space for parents to share resources and navigate the joys and challenges of raising little ones. We launched a preschool co-op, Girl Scout troops, and summer learning programs. Recognizing the need for healing, we established trauma-informed art groups for children.
But our reach extended beyond children. We opened our doors to adults with engaging maker space workshops, fostering creativity for all ages. We didn't shy away from tough topics either. In the wake of local tragedies, we hosted community events to promote healing and raise awareness about sexual assault and to grieve the deaths of children in our community.
We weren't just offering programs; we were building a vibrant community. Through partnerships with the schools, libraries, property owners' associations', and countless other organizations, we fostered a network where everyone feels empowered, families are supported, and connections thrive.
In 2020 when we achieved our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Today, we have a permanent home on Market Street, where we have been able to expand and offer so much more!
Safety - We intentionally create a respectful space free from judgment and harm.
Creativity - We believe in the right to expression and the freedom to innovate.
Inclusion - We honor the diversity and complexity of identities, perspectives, circumstances and experiences.
Collaboration - We recognize that working collectivity deepens our knowledge and fosters community growth.
Empowerment - We build a framework supportive of personal growth, community engagement and service.
Animal Welfare - We prioritize the well-being and humane treatment of animals in all our endeavors.
Resource Stewardship - We use resources wisely, mindful of their impact on the environment and future generations.
